Your data stays on your Mac. Period. No servers, no tracking, no compromises.

Overview

Focusly is built with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. We believe your productivity data is deeply personal and should remain under your complete control.

This privacy policy is simple because our approach is simple: we don't collect your data, period.

Data Collection

Focusly does NOT collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

We have no servers storing your information. We don't track your usage. We don't know who you are or how you use the app.

Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your Mac using standard macOS storage mechanisms:

  • Timer settings and preferences - Stored in UserDefaults
  • Task lists and notes - Stored in local database
  • Statistics and session history - Stored locally
  • Session journal entries - Stored as local files
Your data never leaves your device. Not even to us.

Calendar Access

If you grant Focusly permission to access your calendar (this is optional):

  • We read your calendar events to suggest optimal focus times
  • We display upcoming meetings within the app
  • We alert you before meetings to end your focus session
Important: Calendar data is NEVER transmitted off your device and NEVER stored permanently. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

No Accounts Required

Focusly works without requiring any of the following:

Account creation
Sign-in or login
Email address
Personal information
Internet connection
Phone number

Just download, install, and start focusing. No barriers, no friction, no privacy concerns.

Third-Party Services

Focusly does not integrate with or use:

Analytics services
Tracking pixels
Advertising networks
Cloud storage services
Error tracking tools
External APIs

The only system API we use is the macOS Calendar API, and that data stays completely on your Mac.

Data Security

Since all your data stays on your Mac, your security is in your hands:

  • Your data is as secure as your Mac - No additional risk from cloud storage
  • Enable FileVault for full disk encryption
  • Use a strong Mac password to protect your account
  • Regular Time Machine backups protect your Focusly data

Children's Privacy

Focusly does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, there are no age restrictions or special considerations required under children's privacy laws like COPPA.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.

Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Since we don't collect your email, we can't notify you of changes. Please check this page occasionally if you're interested in updates.

Your Rights

Under data protection laws like GDPR and CCPA, you typically have rights to access, delete, export, and correct your personal data.

However, since Focusly doesn't collect, store, or process any of your personal data, there's nothing for us to:

Delete from our servers
Export or provide
Correct or update
Share with third parties
Your data is yours, on your Mac, always.

You have complete control. Delete the app, and all your data goes with it. No trace remains on any server because there never was one.
